I love horror movies and if I’m going to watch them anyway, why not write an entertaining/funny review from the point of view of an average movie-goer and not a professional critic?

Today we’re looking at 2013’s Evil Dead, the sort of reboot but importantly not a remake of the original Evil Dead.

Four friends meet at an old family cabin in order to help their friend, Mia, overcome a drug addiction when one accidentally unleashes a demonic prophecy that threatens them all.

Overall Review:

Jane Levy’s performance is great, unfortunately, can’t say the same for the rest of the cast until stuff really starts going down. Prior to that, the dialogue seems forced and the acting is ehh which seems to be a common thing in horror movies.

The overall story is great and pretty much sticks to the original, at least at the beginning. The character decisions are probably some of the dumbest I’ve seen this month but fortunately, they don’t actually ruin the movie.

The movie is also pretty gory and gross, by that I mean overly gory at times which is a staple in the series so if you’re not a fan of lots of blood then it might not be for you. Still, if it’s something you don’t mind then add this movie to your list.
