An Average Movie-Goer’s Review
No Spoilers! If you want spoilers – check out the Spoiler post

I love horror movies and if I’m going to watch them anyway, why not write an entertaining/funny review from the point of view of an average movie-goer and not a professional critic?
Today we’re looking at 2018’s Halloween.
Ignoring all the other sequels, this film is the sequel to the original Halloween from 1978. 40 years after Michael Myers terrorized Haddonfield and Laurie Strode, he returns to finish what he started but this time Laurie is prepared for The Shape.

Overall Review
If candy corn is bad Halloween candy but Sour Patch Kids are the best then this movie is like a handful of different candy that include M&M’s, Skittles, and Snickers.
Halloween (2018) is a great follow up to the original Halloween (1978) and the best thing is the movie is written in a way where you don’t need to watch the first movie, although you should. Halloween also has great short scenes of comedy that don’t detract from the film except for one around three quarters in. Other than that the dialogue flows naturally.
Michael Myers definitely feels like an uncontrollable killing machine which adds to the terror he instills. The only downside to the movie is it doesn’t build suspense like the first instead it relies only on making you care about it’s characters which it succeeds with most of the time.
Is Halloween (2018) Scary?
Halloween can get pretty suspenseful but they’re in quick short bursts unlike the original that leaves you feeling like someone is watching you. This one has quick bursts of suspense, fear, and gore. If I lived in a small town like Haddonfield I would be looking behind me all the time. Highly recommend.
