An Average Movie-Goer’s Review

I love horror movies and if I’m going to watch them anyway, why not write an entertaining/funny review from the point of view of an average movie-goer and not a professional critic?
Today we’re looking at 2014’s Ouija
When five friends use an Ouija board to reach out to their deceased friend they accidentally make contact with an evil that may have been the cause to their friend’s death.
Review:
Like many horror movies that focus more on random scares than creating scares from story, Ouija relies on a lot of forced jump scares. The acting and dialogue is a bit weird in the beginning of the movie, sort of like the characters are being forced to be friends but it does get better as the film goes.
The story is pretty solid but does leave you with some questions at the end, though the answer to most of those questions aren’t crucial and mostly are answered with “because the movie tries to be scary.”
Overall the movie is better than I thought it would be, mainly because I had heard it wasn’t good. Having watched the prequel beforehand actually does this movie good and bad. The positive being the story is better with the negative being knowing Ouija: Origin of Evil is the scarier film.
It’s best to watch Ouija: Origin of Evil first though as watching it second will ruin it’s story for you.
